Eastern Wyoming and Central Wyoming Battle in Contender's Bracket

EWC defeats CWC

Nov. 7,  2019, Sterling, Colo. — The second match of the Contender's Bracket was a tough battle that featured Eastern Wyoming College (EWC) and Central Wyoming College (CWC).  The two teams came into today's contest 1-1 against each other in regular season.  In each contest, the set score was 3-0.

 

In sets one and two, Eastern Wyoming found themselves down by as many as six points before coming back to win 25-20 and 26-24.  The third set again was a battle with Central Wyoming gaining the lead midway and never giving it up forcing a third set.  Central Wyoming continued the momentum with a strong start in the fourth, but Eastern mounted a comeback to tie the game at 6's. The back and forth battle continued as EWC gained a two point advantage at 19-17. Miscues by Central Wyoming put EWC up 24-21 before CWC held off set point with a long rally.  A second match point was saved with a stuff block before EWC finished the match with a tip on the right side to end CWC's season.

 

Eastern Wyoming College advances to the 2:00 pm game as they face the loser of the 4 pm match that features Northeastern Junior College and Western Wyoming College.
