Rattlers Defeat Trappers in Opening Round

Otero advances to tournament

Nov. 6, 2019, Sterling, Colo. — In the opening rounds of the Region IX tournament, the Otero Junior College (OJC) Rattlers played the Northwest College (NC) Trappers. This game was a play-in game to be seeded, with winner advancing to play Eastern Wyoming College (EWC), and the loser heading home.

 

In the first set, OJC dominated by scoring two points to the Trappers one, and eventually won 25-12. Set two was much like the first as the Rattlers were able to score two to their one and took the set 25-12. In the third however, the set went down to the wire with OJC getting the 25-23 victory. For the Rattlers, Antia Vallecas let the team with 12 kills and 19 digs. Macie Magallon added 10 kills and seven block assits. Brilane Manchego dished up 32 assits and 16 digs. Mariah Autobee was sound on defense with 16 digs.

 

Otero advances to the tournament to play EWC in the 3:00 pm game.
