Western Nebraska Stays Alive with Win Over McCook

Nov. 8,  2019, Sterling, Colo. — After losing to McCook in three only a week earlier, Western Nebraska came out strong determined to keep their season alive which they did in three sets 25-16, 25-19, 25-20.

After one full rotation, the first set was tied at 12 all.  However, Western Nebraska found their grove as they ran off five points in a row to take a commanding lead and finished the set strong.  In set two the Cougars led by as many as 7 points before closing out set two 25-19.  The final set of the match had many lead exchanges and ties up to point 17 with McCook taking the advantage 19-18.  Western Nebraska then went on a five point run to despite the efforts of McCook Head Coach Haley Kozba who tried breaking the momentum with two timeouts in that point run.  However the Cougars were on a mission to play again on Saturday as they finished the set 25-20.

Western Nebraska now moves on to play the noon match against the 2 pm match winner of Eastern Wyoming and Western Wyoming.
