Scholar Athletes honored at Northeastern Junior College

Northeastern Junior College (NJC) recognized 55 students at Tuesday night's basketball game as Scholar Athletes. To be a Scholar Athlete the student must have a GPA of 3.5 or higher and be a member of one of NJC's athletic teams.

Members of the baseball team honored were: sophomores Kody Bishop of Windsor - 3.56, Dakota Popham of Colorado Springs - 3.60, Spenser Dexter of Casper, Wyo. - 3.69/ASG officer and Patrick Kunkel of Parker - 4.00; freshmen Robert Nico Nintze of Denver - 3.69, Luke Lepine of Okotoks, Alberta, Canada - 3.79, and Zachery Langerak of Arvada - 4.00.

From the golf team: sophomore Jeremiah Velez of Strasburg - 3.58; freshmen Bryce Bivens of Haxtun - 3.81 and Caitlyn Jacobs of Julesburg - 3.54/SAAC member.

On the men's basketball team: freshman Jared Foss of Eaton - 4.00.

Members of the women's basketball team: sophomores Kanani Naipo of Milliken - 3.60 and Hunter Worthley of Lakewood - 4.00.

Men's soccer team members: sophomores Miguel Ramirez of Olathe - 4.00 and Hector Vergara of Greeley - 4.00; freshmen, Ryan Hill of Mareeba, Australia - 3.57 and Joshua Dyke of Lebanan, N.H. - 3.67.

On the softball team: sophomore Leigha Terry of Julesburg - 4.00/SAAC Secretary; freshmen Leah Osborn of Cheyenne Wells - 3.63, Lauren Szabo of Sterling - 3.71, Halee Woltemath of Sedgwick - 3.92, and Alicia Grauberger of Brush - 4.00.

From the volleyball team: sophomores Angelina Garduno of Peyton - 3.75, Carly Orth of Julesburg - 4.00 and Kyra Mix of Kersey - 4.00/SAAC Vice President; freshmen Emily McCurley of Monument - 3.54, Reagan Shaffer of Idalia - 4.00, Kindra Young of Tamuning, Guam - 4.00, Kylee Kuntz of Otis - 4.00, Megan Gerk of Haxtun - 4.00 and Taylor Carsten of Paonia - 3.69.

Representing the Women's Soccer team: Maren Patten of Atwood - 3.75/SAAC President.

From the wrestling team: freshmen, Justin Camacho of Kissimmee, Fla. - 3.71/SAAC member, David Wyatt Somsen of Yoder, Wyo. - 3.77, Justin Anderson of Greeley - 3.79, Anthony Curtis of Aurora - 4.00, Paul Cooksey of Roggen - 4.00.

Members of the NJC Livestock Judging Team: sophomores Logan Henry of Joes - 4.00/Aggies Club President/Phi Theta Kappa, Nicholas Ortner of Holyoke - 3.70/Phi Theta Kappa; and freshman Rayna Hodgson of Greeley - 4.00/Farm Bureau club member/Aggies Club member.
