Late Runs Give Coyotes Victory Over Northeastern

In their second game of many in Arizona, the Plainsmen would face off against the Chandler-Gilbert Community College Coyotes. Being from Arizona, CGCC has been able to get a significant amount of games in compared to the Plainsmen, so they would already have an advantage. Northeastern was not worried about the amount of games the other team has had, they were just worried about themselves and how they needed to play.

The game would begin with the Plainsmen trying to get the Coyote pitcher timed up, but unable to get any runs in. Cole Halpin would be on the bump and do his job by keeping any runners from scoring with precise pitching. The top of the second would be the same as the first as the men were unable to get anyone around for runs. In the bottom of two, the Plainsmen played solid defense, but still allowed the Coyotes to score two runs. In the top of three, Northeastern would cut the lead in half with a run. That would give the men a little boost, which would allow them to keep CGCC's lead to one run. The fourth inning was one where the Coyotes found themselves slightly extending their lead as they would get themselves scoring three runs. The Plainsmen would then be able to get one of those runs allowed back with one of their own to make it a 5-2 game. In the bottom of the fifth, the Plainsmen would have an inning that would last longer than they wanted. The would get stuck in a long inning and would eventually stop the bleeding after CGCC would get five runs. With Northeastern trailing 10-2, they needed to start getting on a roll if they wanted to get the game back in their control. They would try to get that run started, but would muster up one run. Although it was not as much as they wanted, there was still many innings left and had a shot at getting the lead back. In the seventh, the Coyotes held the Plainsmen scoreless, so all NJC had to do was do the same and use the two remaining innings to get the lead. The Coyotes had other plans as they would score three runs, which would initiate the run rule, giving CGCC the 13-3 win over the Plainsmen.

Top performers of the game would be Keegan Meyn, Davyn Adamscheck, and Michael Broz as they each would have two hits, with Meyn also having two RBI's. Northeastern will play South Mountain in a two game series on Friday March 16.
