Game Recap Plainsmen vs. McCook Community College - 2/25

Even though Northeastern Junior College Plainsmen collected nine hits to McCook CC's eight, they still fell 6-3 on Saturday.  In the first inning, McCook CC got their offense started when Davies singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run.  Northeastern Junior College Plainsmen evened things up at one in the top of the second inning. Carter Marlow's sac fly scored one run for Northeastern Junior College Plainsmen.  After Northeastern Junior College Plainsmen scored one run in the top of the fifth, McCook CC answered with one of their own. McCook CC then answered when Minic singled on a 3-2 count, scoring one run.  McCook CC pulled away for good with three runs in the fourth inning. In the fourth an error scored two runs for McCook CC and Watson doubled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run.

Acierno was credited with the victory for McCook CC. The hurler surrendered three runs on six hits over four and two-thirds innings, striking out five. Badcock threw four and a third innings in relief out of the bullpen.  Brian Walters took the loss for Northeastern Junior College Plainsmen. The hurler went four innings, allowing four runs on six hits and striking out six.  Tomas Ricny went 2-for-5 at the plate to lead Northeastern Junior College Plainsmen in hits.

Northeastern Junior College Plainsmen built a seven-run lead in the third inning and then held off McCook CC's charge for an 8-7 victory on Sunday. McCook CC scored seven runs in the failed comeback. QuickDescartesYeagerWatsonMurdoch, and Minic picked up RBIs to lead the rally.  There was plenty of action on the basepaths as Northeastern Junior College Plainsmen collected seven hits and McCook CC had 12.  Northeastern Junior College Plainsmen got things moving in the second inning. Isaac Sherrill singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs.  McCook CC scored three runs in the fifth inning. McCook CC's big inning was driven by singles by Yeager and Watson.

Ryan Jones was credited with the victory for Northeastern Junior College Plainsmen. The pitcher lasted four innings, allowing eight hits and two runs while striking out four and walking one. Hayden NerwinNick Anaya, and Tomas Ricny all put in work in relief out of the bullpen, steering their team towards the victory. Ricny recorded the last two outs to earn the save for Northeastern Junior College Plainsmen.  Chabi took the loss for McCook CC. The pitcher allowed two hits and five runs over one and two-thirds innings, striking out two and walking one.  Northeastern Junior College Plainsmen racked up seven hits. Josh Moore and Sherrill all had multiple hits for Northeastern Junior College PlainsmenMoore led Northeastern Junior College Plainsmen with three hits in four at bats.

Four hits from Wynn Drewes helped lead Northeastern Junior College Plainsmen past McCook CC 16-4 on Sunday. Drewes singled in the third, singled in the fifth, singled in the sixth, and doubled in the sixth.  Northeastern Junior College Plainsmen earned the victory despite allowing McCook CC to score three runs in the second inning. WatsonDescartes, and Elshire each had RBIs in the big inning.  McCook CC took an early lead in the second inning. Elshire grounded out, scoring one run.  Northeastern Junior College Plainsmen took the lead for good with three runs in the fourth inning. In the fourth Carter Marlow tripled on a 0-2 count, scoring two runs and Adam Jackson grounded out, scoring one run.  Northeastern Junior College Plainsmen notched seven runs in the sixth inning. The offensive onslaught by Northeastern Junior College Plainsmen was led by Tomas RicnyJackson DotyMarlowJosh Cote, and Drewes, who all drove in runs.

Noah Soper led the Northeastern Junior College Plainsmen to victory on the hill. The bulldog went three and two-thirds innings, allowing one run on two hits, striking out five and walking one. Cole Jones and Jeffrey Behrends entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.  #22 took the loss for McCook CC. The bulldog allowed eight hits and six runs over four and a third innings, striking out five and walking zero.  Webber started the game for McCook CC. The pitcher allowed two runs on zero hits Trent Schumacher started the game for Northeastern Junior College Plainsmen. The ace went two innings, allowing three runs on one hit and striking out two.  Northeastern Junior College Plainsmen collected 14 hits on the day. MarlowDrewes, and Ricny all managed multiple hits for Northeastern Junior College PlainsmenDrewes and Marlow all had four hits to lead Northeastern Junior College PlainsmenNortheastern Junior College Plainsmen was sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Max Valerio made the most plays with eight.
