Sixth straight: Plainsmen pick up sixth straight win

The fast start to the season for the Northeastern Junior College Plainsmen continued Tuesday evening, with their 81-74 victory over Air Force Prep Academy. With the road victory, the Plainsmen extended their winning streak to six games, and improved to 6-1 overall.

Air Force Prep Academy got the scoring started with a 3-pointer to take the early 3-0 lead. A pair of Tyre Robinson buckets gave the Plainsmen the 4-3 lead. Air Force Prep Academy took the lead back three minutes into the game at 5-4 after a made lay up, but a Kei'Shon Parker 3-pointer gave the Plainsmen the lead for good.

The Plainsmen led at halftime 33-26. Both teams found their offensive groove in the second half, as they both scored 48 points in the final 20 minutes.

Garrett Baggett led the way offensively for the Plainsmen. The sophomore guard hit four 3-pointers and finished the game with 19 points.

Parker hit three 3-pointers and finished with 15 points. Jalonni McCovery finished with 11 points. Axel Mpoyo reached double figures, with 10 points.

Marsalis Johnson scored nine points. Robinson chipped in with six points and grabbed a team-leading seven rebounds. Jalen Guidry dished out five assists and grabbed four rebounds.

The Plainsmen will go for their seventh straight win against Sheridan College on Monday, Nov. 21, at the Bank of Colorado Event Center. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m.

Sheridan College defeated NJC to start the season 88-62. The Generals are currently 4-1, and lost their last game to Air Force Prep Academy 78-64.
