After starting the season with a loss, the Northeastern Junior College Plainsmen have since rattled off three straight wins on the basketball court. On Tuesday, the Plainsmen defeated Colorado Northwestern Community College 71-66 to improve their overall record to 3-1.

The Plainsmen led at the half 36-25, thanks in large part to a strong shooting performance from Kei'Shon Parker. The talented guard went 3-4 from beyond the arc and finished the first half with 11 points. Parker finished the game with 15 points.

Axel Mpoyo provided a spark off the bench, by leading the Plainsmen with 17 points. Marsalis Johnson finished with nine points and seven rebounds. Jalonni McCovery, Ron Hall, Garrett Baggett and Jazz Parker all scored six points.

Through four games the Plainsmen have a trio of players averaging 10 or more points. Johnson leads the team with 12.3 points per game. Mpoyo is second on the team with 12 points per game. Baggett is averaging 10.5 points per contest.

During their three game winning streak the Plainsmen are averaging 84 points per game. The Plainsmen will play their home opener this Friday, Nov. 11, at 5 p.m. against Fort Carson.
