Plainsmen Corral Rams After Defeated by Generals

The Plainsmen recently traveled to Sheridan College to play two games against some tough Wyoming competition.  The first game they would play the host team, the Sheridan College Generals, and then the day following would play the Little Big Horn College Rams.  Both teams could spell trouble for the Plainsmen if they didn't execute and follow game plans, but they were excited for the competition it would bring.

In the first game against the Generals, the Plainsmen would face a team similar to themselves in being athletic, so it would come down to execution.  The Generals would come out strong, but the Plainsmen would almost always answer with a bucket of their own.  Early in the game, the Generals would go on a 9-2 run and lead Northeastern 23-14.  The Plainsmen would weather the storm, come back of a run of their own, and bring it back to a tied ball game at half at 27 apiece.

The second half would be the deciding factor in their defeat.  The Plainsmen would fall behind early and trail the Generals 32-46 with roughly 12 minutes to play in the game.  But with two minutes left in the game, NJC would make it interesting by bringing it back to be a seven point game with a Marcus Burwell three pointer.  The Plainsmen would be thwarted by the Plainsmen at the end, which would make them fall in a 77-68 loss.

Top performers in the game would be Marcus Burwell who would have 19 points and two rebounds.  Next would be Ron Hall as he would chalk up 13 points and seven rebounds.

The next game against the Little Big Horn Rams would be a new day for the Plainsmen.  The men knew that they needed to at least get the split at the invite to make it worthwhile.  The Rams would not be an easy team to beat if they would look past them, so they needed to come out energetically. The first half would prove to be the determining factor as they would outscore the Rams 45-35.  In the second, the game would practically be a stalemate, but doing their work early in the game would help them seal the 95-86 victory.

The Plainsmen will head to Salt Lake City, UT over the Thanksgiving holiday before returning home on November 30 as they host Eastern Wyoming.
