First Half Scoring Helps Plainsmen Win over McCook

Feb. 11, 2019, Sterling, Colo. — A few wins in a row is exactly what the Plainsmen basketball team needed after take a few to the chin throughout January. Their last few wins have been against tough teams, which will help shake things up in the Region IX south rankings. Northeastern has had bad luck on the road, but in the last two games, they have thrived. 

The Plainsmen's most recent game against the McCook Indians was one they had to win. When these two teams faced each other in Sterling, the Plainsmen fought until the end but McCook held on for a four-point victory. Northeastern needed to get this road win over the Indians to stay in the hunt for playoffs, so nothing was left to chance. 

The first half, Northeastern took the 37-28 lead and held it throughout the entirety of the game. The Plainsmen scouted their film to see what worked and what they needed to improve against them. In the end, their scouting paid off. McCook was unable counter anything the Plainsmen threw at them, and Northeastern won 79-69. 

The Plainsmen will travel again down to Lamar, Colo. on Wednesday, Feb. 13 in another divisional game. Tip-off begins at 7 p.m.
