NJC Picks Up Third Win on Season

Sterling, Colo...

Northeastern hosted Laramie County Community College on Monday night to start the week off.  This is the 8th game of the season for the Plainsmen, 2nd of which has been against LCCC, who resides in the north divison of Region IX.  It was a much better match-up this time around on the home court allowing for more flexibilty on the lineups that NJC played with.  After having a week off, Northeastern will travel to Casper on Monday the 22nd to battle the Thunderbirds for the 1st game of their 2 matchups this season.  To end the Thanksgiving week, the Plainsmen will travel to Twin Falls, Idaho to play in the College of Southern Idaho basketball tournament.  There, NJC will face Snow College and CSI on Friday (26th) and Saturday (27th).

(Game Recap 11/15) Plainsmen vs. Laramie County CC = Won 86-80

1st Half - A very back and forth scoring half for each team, leads switched between the two teams on a few occassions.  NJC went in at halftime leading LCCC.

2nd Half - A more dialed in offensive system and more relible defense from the Plainsmen.  Northeastern made the best of these opportunities and held onto the win.  Final score was 86-80.

Breakdown:  Only three players on the Northeastern roster were able to get into double digit scoring totals.  Freshman Obi Agbim has really been turning his game around with another great scoring performance as he ended with 22 points, which led all Plainsmen scorers.  He also dished out 8 assists in his performance.  Sophomore Jared Adams had a great game coming off the bench as he picked up 11 rebounds and scored 16 points in his double-double performance.  Quincey Jewett again scored well for the Plainsmen as he tallied 17 points.  NJC out rebounded LCC 35-16, but had 4 more turnovers, a statistic that has been problematic this season.
