Plainsmen Drop Back to Back Conference Games
As the regular season is nearing its end for the NJC men's basketball team, the Plainsmen find themselves struggling to win the big games they need in order to position themselves for the post season. Last week Northeastern wasn't able to come up with a win against Trinidad, giving the Trojans a sweep of the season series. Then back at home earlier in the week, NJC faced conference rival Western Nebraska CC, a game in which they had high hopes of winning. Unfortunately, things unraveled for the Plainsmen, and they took the loss in the last minute of the game. NJC finishes up their regular season with the Hoops Homecoming game against Lamar CC. Game time is slated for 4pm.

(Game Recap 2/11) Plainsmen vs. Trinidad State College = Loss 78-63
1st Half - Northeastern has solid 1st half. NJC leads at halftime 42-29.
2nd Half - TSC held nothing back and had a monster 2nd half. TSC wins 78-63.
Breakdown: Northeastern started the game off hot as they handled the Trojans easily by containing their offense. A complete turn around in the 2nd half as Trojans owned the Plainsmen in about every category, outscoring them by 28, solidifying their 15 point win. The Trojans were close to having 6 players in double digits for scoring. Obi Agbim came up big on the scoring side of the game tallying 25 points. Sophomore Axel Henry was hot from behind the arc going 5-6 and recording 17 points in the contest. Quincey Jewett was 1 point shy of a double-double scoring 9 and dominating the glass with 20 rebounds. NJC out rebounded the Trojans on both sides of the ball, but that wasn't enough to cool down the hot shooting from Trinidad.

(Game Recap 2/15) Plainsmen vs. Western Nebraska CC = Loss 69-67
1st Half - Pretty evenly matched 1st half. WNCC leads at halftime 18-17.
2nd Half - NJC carries lead all 2nd half until 30 secs left, lost game. WNCC wins 69-67.
Breakdown: The score was close for the majority of the game, but NJC held the lead for basically all of it. In the closing minutes, Northeastern couldn't hold the lead and let it slip away at the end, giving the Cougars the conference win. Jared Adams led the way for the Plainsmen scoring 18 points and grabbing 6 rebounds. Big man Quincey Jewett recorded 17 points while snatching 8 rebounds. Freshman Obi Agbim also came up with a double digit performance scoing 10. Northeastern shot 48.2% from the field. The Plainsmen out rebounded the Cougars by 7, but had 3 more turnovers.
