Trojans End the Plainsmen Season

Trojans End the Plainsmen Season

Trinidad, Colo...

Northeastern's playoff dreams were shattered as they battled the Trinidad State College Trojans this past Saturday on the road in a game that had playoff implications.  A win for NJC would've meant that their playoff journey continued as they would of had an uphill battle to win the region as they had a slumping season that the Plainsmen couldn't turn around.  Unfortunately, a loss would end the season for the Plainsmen without making a regional appearance, something that hasn't happened for quite some time.  Northeastern will have some work cut out for them this off-season as they are losing 5 sophomores who played big minutes this season.

(Game Recap 2/26) Plainsmen vs. Trinidad State College = Loss 87-75

1st Half -  Trojans had a strong first half on both sides of the ball.  Halftime score was 47-35 TSC.

2nd Half - Much more evenly matched, but to big of a deficit.  Final score was 87-75 TSC.

Breakdown: NJC couldn't get things going in the first half as they fell short on both sides of the ball.  Trinidad had very good scoring chances most of the 1st half and took advantage.  The Plainsmen were able to slow the game down, but wasn't able to make up the 12 point halftime deficit on the road.  Obi Agbim scored 26 points and recorded 4 steals.  Sophomore Axel Henry also got the nod for a start in the big game, which turned out to be a 18 point night, going 4-7 from behind the arc.  Northeastern struggled on the boards and had 6 more fouls in the contest than the Trojans.  NJC shot 44.3% from the field, and over 50% from beyond the arc.
