The Northeastern Junior College soccer program returned home for the first time in the month of September this past weekend. The Plainsmen went 1-1, while the Plainswomen dropped a pair of games.

The Plainsmen started the weekend off by staging a second-half comeback against Western Nebraska Community College. WNCC struck first with a goal early in the first half to take a 1-0 lead. The two teams would hold serve during the rest of the opening 45 minutes.

The Plainsmen got on the board at the 62 minute mark thanks to a goal from Miguel Palma to tie the game at one. Palma was assisted on the goal by Chance Vang.

At the 87 minute mark, Vang scored what proved to be the game-winning goal to give the Plainsmen the 2-1 victory. Vang was assisted by Paul Liagre.

Akim Larmond gave up one goal and recorded six saves.

NJC failed to build any momentum the following day against Laramie County Community College. LCCC shutout the Plainsmen en route to a 2-0 victory.

With the weekend split the Plainsmen are now 3-2-3 on the season. They'll hit the road on Saturday, Sept. 17, to take on Central Community College-Columbus at 2 p.m.

The Plainswomen continued their early season struggles on offense. They were shut out in both of their matches this weekend.

Western Nebraska Community College scored two first half goals to defeat the Plainswomen 2-0 on Friday. The following day Laramie County Community College dominated NJC 6-0.

The Plainswomen are now 1-7 and have been shut out in six games, including the past four games. They'll look to snap their four-game losing streak on Friday, Sept 23, at home against Trinidad State Junior College at 11 a.m. TSJC defeated NJC earlier this season 4-0.
