Jean Carre Signs to Regis University

July 1, 2019, Sterling, Colo. - Jean Carre from Lille, France became the fifth soccer student-athlete of the 2019 graduating class to continue his athletic and academic career. Carre signed a National Letter of Intent (NLI) with Regis University in Denver, Colorado. Carre is now Northeastern's single-season top goal scorer and led NJCAA Region IX with 21 total in 2018. He was awarded Region IX South Most Valuable Player and First Team. As a freshman, he earned Second Team All-Region IX South and First Team All-Tournament.

On his signing day, "I chose Regis because the coaches really wanted me and we played against them and I enjoyed the campus and location. Also, they have a plan for me and made me a very strong offer that was nice to be given from a strong university and soccer program," said Jean Carre

Carre continued, "NJC helped me to have a better mentality but also to learn English. This year in soccer was very good, we had the program's best season and many universities know NJC because of what our team did. My best memories were traveling with my teammate and my coach, we traveled a lot in Colorado or other states and I saw many beautiful things. I would like to graduate from Regis but also to be a professional player in the US."

Regis Men's Soccer Head Coach Tony McCall spoke about Carre after the decision was finalized. "We were impressed after we saw Jean in our exhibition game against Northeastern. A very versatile player, he has the ability to play central or out wide in the channels. He's quick and dynamic with the ball and he has a nose for goal. His ability to score for himself and create for others makes him an incredibly dangerous player in the attacking third and we're very excited to add a player like him to the program."

"He's done very well in his time at Northeastern and we thank Keith Buderus and his coaching staff for coaching and preparing him for his time at Regis. A very competitive program, I am sure Jean will not be the last NJC player we see join our program. With the class we have coming in next fall, we're very excited to continue building not the success of the program and getting back into the NCAA tournament," McCall said.

"I do not think I'll ever forget the moment when Jean arrived on day one as a sophomore and emphatically stated he was ready to lead our attack. Before that, he had excelled at outside back for us but we knew there was more for Jean. He took that advice and ran with it as he earned himself Region IX South MVP," said Northeastern Head Men's Soccer Coach Keith Buderus.

"We knew after Jean set the school record for goals scored in a single season and was awarded NJCAA Third Team All-American that he would garner tons of national attention. He had a very difficult time deciding where to commit his future and in the end, we could not be happier that he chose to stay nearby to play in a top program and conference," Buderus said.

Buderus went on to add, "He deserves everything that comes to him. He left NJC as a young man who has grown up and matured. That maturation process combined with his God-given abilities have to lead him to a high-quality opportunity at Regis University. We will miss many aspects of Jean's personality and athleticism on and off the field and after all he has done here, we wish him the best in Denver!"
