Plainsmen Soccer Struggle in Utah

Sept. 3, 2019, Sterling, Colo. — After competing and tied against top ranked Barton Community College, the Northeastern Junior College (NJC) Plainsmen hit the road again for Utah to play against the Snow College (SC) Badgers and the Salt Lake Community College (SLCC) Bruins. The Plainsmen needed to play like they did against Barton in order to come out with some wins on the weekend.

The first day against the Badgers was a tight match all the way until the end. The first half was scoreless between the two, but both teams had their opportunities. It was late in the second half when the Badgers capitalized to give them the 1-0 lead. Northeastern scrambled to get the equalizer, but time ran out and lost 1-0.

Their second game was less than ideal for the Plainsmen as SLCC was able to take a hefty lead before NJC was able to get a goal added next to their name on the scoreboard. In the first half, NJC trailed 3-0 then 5-0 before Gabriel Temperini scored from the pass of Carlos Morales in the 82nd minute to make it a 5-1 game. Northeastern eventually fell 5-1 to the Bruins, taking their record to 2-2-1 overall.

The Plainsmen will be at home on Wednesday Sept. 4 as they host the Western Nebraska Cougars with kickoff at 5 p.m.
