Plainsmen Find Success on the Pitch

Northeastern Men's Soccer opened the 2021 fall season with a 1-2 loss to Central Community College-Columbus.

The Plainsmen were down 2-0 going into half. Sophomore Gabe Porras scored in the 65' minute to bring the Plainsmen within one.  Northeastern had six shots on goal and forced five saves from the CCCC keeper.

 

Norfolk, Neb.

In the second match of the weekend, the Plainsmen would secure the first win of new head coach Chance Vang's tenure with a 5-1 win over Northeast Community College. 

Northeastern was led in scoring by sophomore captain Lars Walczyk with a brace in the 8' and the 58'.  Ivan Luna scored unassisted in the 28' followed by Dylan Viebrantz-Zavatini 43' to close the first half 3-0.  The second half opened with the second Walczyk goal, ended the clean sheet in the 68' minute.  In the 80' Porras added his second goal of the weekend in route to the 5-1 victory.  Northeastern had 10 shots on goal and allowed only two shots on goal on the defensive end.

 

Northeastern is on the road Wednesday evening with an exhibition match against University of Colorado-Colorado Sprints and head to Rangley, Colo., for a Sunday afternoon match with CNCC.
