Plainsmen Record Second Loss Of Season

Sterling, Colo...

The Plainsmen soccer team have been on a long run of winning games thus far this season.  Last week Laramie County Community College came to Sterling to face NJC on their home pitch, trying to stop the 7 game winning streak the Plainsmen have accumulated over the past three plus weeks.  Unfortunately, the Plainsmen got off to a rocky start to the game going down 2-0 before getting a late game goal.  The steam ran out for NJC as they suffered their first loss in 8 games with a final score of 2-1.  NJC travels to Scottsbluff on Saturday, September 18th for a rival Region IX game at Landers Sports Complex.  The game is slated to start at 4:30pm.

LCCC Goal - At minute 65, Omar Castrulta's freekick beats NJC goalkeeper for two goals in two minutes

1st Goal - At minute 76, Sam Wright rifles in a goal that was assisted from Lars Walczyk

Breakdown: It was a hard fought game for both teams as there were no goals scored in the first half of the match.  NJC defense struggled to keep control of the ball allowing LCCC to get solid movement and formation which led to back to back goals.  NJC couldn't recover from the deficit and was only able to get one goal in for the match at minute 76.  LCCC had 16 shots total with 3 being on goal whereas NJC had 10 shots, 5 of which were on goal.
