Plainswomen Could Not Get Bats Going Against Lopes

The Plainswomen would head down to Lamar to play against the Lopes in a Region IX South conference game.  Northeastern would be able to get one game at home last time they played and were looking to get these games on the road to even it up at three games a-piece.  Winning these games could help them out tremendously in conference standings, so they were locked in.

The first game of the series would have Makaila Chadwick starting pitching for the Plainswomen.  With the ladies up to bat first, they would try to open the game up with a run.  The Lopes would have other plans and would keep NJC scoreless.  In the Bottom of the first, the Lopes would be able to score four runs, giving them the 4-0 lead.  The next two innings, both teams would play solid defensively by keeping each other held to zero points.  In the top of four, the Plainswomen would break the ice and get one run added to the board, bringing it within three.  In the bottom of that inning, the Lopes would find themselves getting another two runs, extending it to a 6-1 ball game.  The next few innings, NJC would try to get more runs back, but the Lopes would keep them from doing so.  The game would end with Northeastern falling to the Lopes 6-1.

Game two was NJC's chance at getting a game.  They wanted to at least get the split on the series, despite not being able to get the split on their overall matchups.  Right away, the Plainswomen knew they would have to battle to get the win, as the Lopes would score six runs in the first half inning of the game.  Although NJC would try, Lamar's pitcher was in the groove.  The girls were only able to accumulate three hits throughout the entire game, which would make it hard for them to score.  In the bottom of the third, the Lopes would add seven more to their score to make it a 13-0 game.  The next two innings the Plainswomen would again try to get something sparked to give themselves a boost, but no such luck would come.  The Plainswomen would fall in game two to Lamar to finish the series between the teams.

The women look to climb the standings as they host the Otero Rattlers in another conference match up.
