Northeastern Wins A Gritty Battle Against WNCC In Game 2 Of The Double Header 11-8

Ayva McComas collected four hits in five at bats, as Northeastern defeated Western Nebraska Community College 11-8 in Game 2 of the double header on Friday. McComas hit a solo home run in the first inning, singled in the third, singled in the second, and singled in the fifth inning. The Plainswomen got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after McComas homered to right field, and Blayke Duncan hit a sacrifice fly, each scoring one run. Northeastern flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the third, scoring five runs on five hits to take a 7-3 lead. The biggest blow in the inning was a single by McComas on an 0-2 count that drove in two. The Plainswomen captured the lead, 11-7, in the bottom of the fifth inning when an error scored one run, Lauren Lee hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run, and Savannah Waldrop doubled scoring two runs. Reagan Fehringer earned the win for Northeastern. The righty surrendered three hits and one run over three innings, striking out one and walking one. Teagan Kehm led things off in the circle for the Plainswomen. The righty allowed seven hits and five runs over four innings, striking out none and walking two. Waldrop and McComas each drove in two runs for Northeastern. Lee collected two hits for Northeastern in three at bats. The Plainswomen accumulated five walks and stole four bases, and also turned one double play in the game. The Plainswomen are back in action again on Tuesday at Western Nebraska Community College.
