Despite Out Hitting Western Nebraska Community College, Northeastern Falls In Game 1 Of The Double Header 12-11

Northeastern fell 12-11 to Western Nebraska Community College on Tuesday despite out hitting them 17 to 13. Lauren Lee led Northeastern with five hits. Despite the loss, the Plainswomen did collect 17 hits in the high scoring affair. Northeastern got on the board in the first inning after Savannah Waldrop hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run. The Plainswomen scored five runs on five hits in the top of the third inning. Lee doubled, scoring two runs, an error scored one run, Kaylee Eyl drew a walk, scoring one run, and Reagan Fehringer hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run. Northeastern tied the game in the top of the fifth thanks to a single by Ayva McComas, and a sacrifice fly by Waldrop. Fehringer took the loss for Northeastern. The righty went six innings, allowing 12 runs (six earned) on 13 hits, striking out three and walking two. The Plainswomen amassed 17 hits in the game. Waldrop and Lee were a one-two punch in the lineup, as each drove in three runs for Northeastern. Blayke Duncan, Isabelle Bencivenga, and McComas each collected multiple hits. Eyl led Northeastern with two walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, collecting four walks for the game. The Plainswomen also stole five games in the game.
