T-Birds Strike Again Versus Plainswomen

T-Birds Strike Again Versus Plainswomen

The Plainswomen basketball team traveled to Casper, WY to play in a three day invite.  In the three days, the ladies will face some tough competition and will help them for their Region IX conference play.  In their first day of competition, Northeastern played the host team, the Casper College Thunderbirds.  The Plainswomen had just faced the T-birds the week prior in the Roundball Classic, but a week of practiced would help them prepare for them this time.

In the first quarter, the Plainswomen played solid and lead 17-16.  Proper scouting reports by the coaching staff had helped them in that quarter, but the coaches could not have prepared for what had happened in the second.  In the second quarter, NJC could not seem to be able to buy a bucket and could only score eight points.  That sluggish performance shooting would not have been that bad if Northeastern played good defensively, but the T-Birds were red hot and put up 22, which put them behind 25-38.

In the second half, the Plainswomen played a much better half in the frontcourt and backcourt.  The ladies put up 14 to Casper's 21.  In the last quarter, Northeastern played solid again and outscored them by one, 17-16; but the damage had already been done.  The women would go on to lose 75-56 and look to come back the next day as they play Western Wyoming.

Leaders in scoring against Casper would be Kalyn Serrato coming off the bench to score a career high of 15 points.  Next would be Kirsten Regennitter having nine points, four rebounds, and three assits.
