Big Win on Opening Night

Nov. 2, 2018, Sterling, Colo. – The Plainswomen opened the season with a big win cruising to a 103-57 victory over the York JV Panthers. The Plainswomen came out quick, playing hard in the first quarter and the Lady Panthers couldn't handle the pressure. Northeastern jumped to a 37-10 lead with superb shooting by the Plainswomen. Out of the gate, the women were 11 out of 13 from the two-point range, 5 for 7 from the three-point line, and 2 for 2 from the charity stripe.

After Northeastern's quick start, York couldn't keep up and the Plainswomen took a 60-30 advantage into half time. In the second half, the Plainswomen kept up the half-court pressure and cruised to a 103-57 victory.

The Plainswomen shot 62 percent for two pointers, going 31 out of 50. From the three-point line, Northeastern shot 33 percent going 10 for 30. From the free-throw line, the Plainswomen went 11 out of 17 for 65 percent.

Asia Turner had 19 points and 20 rebounds, and Marta Rodriguez had 17 points, four rebounds, and four assists. Kennedi Fulwylie, Tashika Burrell and Aleksandra Ratnikava all finished with 12 points. Alyzae Davis finished with 10 points. Rounding up the scoring was Callie Dickerson and Unique Gainey with eight points each, Taylor Knudson with three and Haley Weimer with two.
