Unanswered Points in First; Comeback in Second

Nov. 26, 2018, Sterling, Colo. — In a matinee game, the Plainswomen basketball team hosted the Northeast Hawks at the Bank of Colorado Event Center. The ladies recently came off a split in Casper as they defeated Central Wyoming, but fell to Snow College. Additionally, the Plainswomen had a short break as they went home for Thanksgiving. Having a week off was good for them to give their legs a rest, but bad that they were not able to get some practice in.

In the first half, both teams were equally matched as they took turns taking the lead. With both teams exchanging points, it was the Plainswomen who got cold first. With the score tied 35-35, the Hawks went on a 13-0 run to finish the first half and lead the Plainswomen 48-35. The Plainswomen knew they needed to stop the Hawks from scoring uncontested layups and make the open shot.

In the third quarter, the Plainswomen executed their second half adjustments and chipped away at the Hawks' lead. The ladies were able to make tough shots and stopped the Hawks' attack. At the end of the third, Northeastern closed the gap to make it a 55-51 game. In the fourth, it was vaguely similar to the first half as the Plainswomen were unable to make the shots they needed and the Hawks were able to sink their key shots. In the end, the Plainswomen fell 79-71 to the Hawks. Leading scorer for the Plainswomen was Asia Turner with 21 points.
