Plainswomen Basketball Defeats Rams

Feb. 18, 2019, Sterling, Colo. — In a rescheduled game that was supposed to be played earlier this month, the Plainswomen basketball team hosted Colorado State University-Club. The ladies played the Rams earlier in the year and defeated them 70-40. Despite how they played them last time, club teams may change rosters throughout the year with new players. Additionally, the Plainswomen wouldn't have any film to scout, so they needed to rely on their own game.

Northeastern found success early with their drives and took an early 14-4 lead in the first five minutes. At the end of the first, the Plainswomen had the 21-8 lead. The second quarter became stale with scoring between the teams and was riddled with turnovers. Despite the ugly play, Northeastern held their lead over the Rams 35-19.

During the break, head coach Dave Huss wanted the ladies to pick up there defensive rebounding and limit the amount of offensive rebound the Rams get. The third quarter was much better defensively as Northeastern held the Rams to four points and led 53-23. The fourth quarter went by fast as both teams just played, and the Plainswomen came out on top 75-34.

Northeastern will travel to Trinidad to play the Trojans on Friday, Feb. 22.
