Golf Only Plays One Day Because Of Weather

The Northeastern golf teams would travel to McCook to play at Heritage Hills in their most recent tournament.  The teams were not too thrilled about playing this course because of how challenging it is, and when they went there in the fall, they did not produce their best scores.  Challenging as it is, both the men and women have been shooting some very competitive scores since returning to action this spring, so they could play better than what they thought they could.

The tournament would only be able to go one day, because after the first day, a system would roll in and dump snow across the Midwest, deeming the course unplayable.  Both teams knew it would be a possibility that the snow could disrupt the tournament, so they knew they had to play well day one in case it would boil down to one day's worth of scores.

For the women, the Plainswomen would play very well again.  Three of the four Plainswomen would finish in second, third and fourth on the day, with the fourth finishing close behind in seventh.  Caitlyn Jacobs would lead Northeastern with a second place finish, Baily Kreider would finish in third, Jessica Salazar would finish in fourth, and Rachel Rael would finish in seventh.  The scores posted for the Plainswomen placed them in first place yet again, which adds to their top place finishes.  The Plainswomen are excited to play on their home course this week and aim for another first place victory.

On the men's side, Brett Mattson would lead the way for the Plainsmen by shooting four over, making him only three shots away from the lead.  Tate Higgins and Bradon Baxter would shoot thirteen over, and Brice Bivens would shoot twenty-one over.  During the round, the incoming storm would play a factor in the round scores for the participants, so high scores were a common occurrence.  The men would finish the tournament in sixth place and will look to improve on it when they come home to Northeastern 18 for their next tournament.
