Northeastern Hosts Tournament

Northeastern Hosts Tournament

With bad weather conditions on the forecast, the Northeastern golf teams would only play the first day of the two-day tournament at Northeastern 18.  The weather accurately predicted a short lived but powerful snowstorm that would eventually shut down the roads in Northeastern Colorado.  With the tournament now consisting of only one day, the golfers knew that one good round could launch them into a higher place in the rankings.  With it being held on their home course, they knew the lay of the land and how the greens played, so the advantage was on their side.

The women's team would finish at the one spot once again.  Caitlyn Jacobs would shoot a 93 on the day which would place her in second place.  Jessica Salazar would have one of her best places by shooting a 98 which would place her tied at third.  Baily Kreider and Rachel Rael would each shoot an even 100 which would put them right behind Salazar by placing them tied at fifth.

For the men, Brett Mattson would play very well and finish second place shooting two under, and only be two shots off the leader.  Logan Wood would also shoot well and shoot four over, finishing tied in 13th place.  Sam Roach and Bradon Baxter would not be far behind Wood as they would shoot seven over, finishing tied at 22nd place.  Bryce Bivins would shoot 10 over and finish at 30th place, and Cody Hurtado would shoot 12 over finishing at 33rd place.  As a team they would shoot a 302, which would be 14 over par, and put them at third place on the tournament.

The next tournament for Northeastern will be in Torrington, WY as Eastern Wyoming College hosts on April 19 and 20.
