Women Finish Second; Men Move Up In Rankings

Sept. 17, 2018, Sterling, Colo. — The Northeastern golf teams traveled to Torrington, Wyo. to play in the Eastern Wyoming Tournament. The Plainsmen team looked to climb the ranks and the Plainswomen hoped to lower their individual scores. 

The first day of scores for both teams were as expected for some of the players as it was the first time they had played this course. The sophomores led the way with Brett Mattson shooting a 75 and Jessica Salazar shooting a 103. Bradon Baxter shot an 81 and Sam Ostravich shot an 86. Angela Cristelli shot a 105 and Baily Kreider shot a 108. 

Day Two was kinder to some, as individuals moved up and down the leaderboards. Mattson finished tied in 13th after shooting a 79 for a total score of 154. Salazar finished in fourth after dropping six strokes by shooting a 97 for a total score of 200. Baxter finished 19th with a score of 161, Ostravich finished tied for 22nd with a 166 total. Cristelli finished in sixth after posting a 204 total, and Kreider finished eighth after posting a 217. 

The Northeastern teams will host their tournament at the Northeastern 18 golf course on Thursday and Friday, Sept. 20 and 21.
