Second Day Rain Out for Golf

Mar. 29, 2019, Sterling, Colo. — Inclement weather has plagued every spring team on the Northeastern campus, and golf has not been an exception. Their two-day tournament at Heritage Hills Heritage Hills Golf Course in McCook, Neb. changed to a one day, 18-hole tournament because of rain forecasted on Friday. 

The Plainsmen played well with other players taking the lead for the team. Logan Wood led the team by shooting a 79 and finished tied at fourth place. Next was Sam Ostravich only being one stroke off Woods with an 80 and tied at sixth. Tate Higgins and Brett Mattson tied at 18 by each shooting an 83. Tanner Wilmes placed at 29th with a 94 and Codey Smith shot a 108 and placed 32nd. As a team, the Plainsmen finished in fourth place. 

The Plainswomen golfers finished second with Jessica Salazar leading with a 107 and placing fifth. Baily Kreider was only one stroke away from her with a 108, putting her in sixth. Angela Cristelli placed eighth by shooting a 113, and Megan Young placed 11th with a 130. 

The team will be at home beginning Thursday, Apr. 4 and 5 as they host their tournament at Northeastern 18.
