The Northeastern Junior College golf team had an outstanding second tournament of the season on Friday as they took part in the McCook CC Event in McCook, Nebraska. For the women's team, in particular, as they claimed outright victory on the day.

The NJC women's team finished in 1st place at +132 for a total score of 420. That score was a full 61 points ahead of 2nd place Otero JC. Darian Mehling finished in 1st place individually for the Plainswomen at +23 for a total gross of 95, 12 ahead of 2nd place.

Speaking of 2nd place, NJC locked that spot up too as Tiara Ginther finished +35 for a total of 107 to tie for 2nd.

It certainly wasn't lonely near the top of NJC, as the Plainswomen also had two golfers tie for 4th place. Payton Wallace and Hope Dutton earned the spot at +37 for a total gross of 109.

The NJC domination kept on coming, as Kylee Monaco finished in 6th place +40 for a score of 112. Jessica Carrigan rounded out the remaining Plainswomen in 9th place at +54 for a score of 126.

Next week will be the biggest thus far for head coach Vernon Harbart and company as they make the return home to Sterling. NJC will host their own tournament at Riverview Golf Course on Friday at 1:00 pm. It isn't the only action of the week, however, as the team will be hosting the Bank of Colorado Scramble Fundraiser, also at Riverview, to benefit NJC golf. The tournament will be held on Saturday at 9 am.
