Wrestling officially returns to NJC

The sport of wrestling is officially back at Northeastern Junior College. The Plainsmen held an intersquad meet on Oct. 26, to showcase the team's talent for the community.

The Plainsmen competed in their first official meet Saturday, Nov. 5, at the Cowboy Open. They'll compete in their first home meet this Saturday, Nov. 12, against Northwest Kansas Tech at 5 p.m.

In the 125 pound division Tanner Watson went 0-2. Cain Apple went 1-2, with a 6-4 win by decision. Apple lost to former Sterling Tiger, Colby Duncan by fall in his final match of the day.

In the 133 pound division Paul Cooksey went 1-2. Cooksey won his second match of the day by a 3-2 decision.

Justin Camacho went 1-2 in the 141 pound division. Camacho won his second match of the day via a tie braker. Mike Ferrini went 0-2 in the same weight class.

In the 149 pound division Jeremy Fraser went 2-2. Fraser won his second match of the day by fall, and his third match of the day by a 12-5 decision. Riley Lopez went 1-2 in the same weight class. Lopez won his second match by fall.

Anthony Curtis placed sixth in the 157 pound division. Curtis went 4-1 with two wins by fall.

In the 157 pound division Justin Anderson went 0-2. Reagan Lane went 2-2 in the same weight class, with one win coming by fall.

Moses Martinez went 0-2 in the 165 pound weight class. Kaelan Jones went 0-2 in the 174 pound weight class.

Former Sterling Tiger, P.J. Holtzhauser went 1-2 in the 174 pound weight class. Holtzhauser won the second match of his collegiate career by fall.

In the 184 pound division Dylan Buschow went 1-2. Buschow won his second match by fall. Kevin Overlin went 0-2 in the same weight class. Wyatt Somsen went 1-2 in the same weight class.

Ben Hinds went 1-2 in the 197 pound division. Eddie Rojas went 1-2 in the 285 pound division, with one win by fall.
