Northeastern Sweeps Competition at Midwest Duals

Jan. 10, 2019, Sterling, Colo. — The Northeastern wrestling team recently traveled to Kearney, Neb. to wrestle in the Midwest Duals. The men competed in four separate duals, and had a great showing by winning all four of them. Three of the four teams were fellow members of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA), which will help them in national rankings.

In the first dual, Northeastern defeated Cloud County Community college 48-9, then followed it up by defeating Colby Community College 46-12. Their third win of the day came against Dakota Wesleyan where the Plainsmen won handily 55-0. The final victory of the day looked to be their toughest competition, North Iowa Area, but the Plainsmen were still able to come out on top with a 35-18 victory.

Those four could help Northeastern climb in the national standings as they currently sit ninth in the country. The Plainsmen's next dual will be in La Junta, Colo. as they travel to square off against the Otero Rattlers on Thursday, Jan. 27.
