Northeastern Places Two at UNK Younes Hospitality Open

Northeastern Wrestling competed in the UNK Younes Hospitality Open hosted by the University of Nebraska Kearney.  The Plainsmen placed two wrestlers at the event

 

Sophomores Braeson Lewis (174) took third and Sebastian Robles (157) took fifth.

 

Sebastian Robles pinned his way into the semifinals where he fell to Kevin Kearns from Colorado School of Mines. In his consolation semifinal match, Sebastian fell to Hunter Shelton of Baker in a 9-7 decision. Robles bounced back in his fifth place bout and earned a technical fall over Darryl Baldes of Colby Community College, 19-1.

 

Braeson Lewis showed tremendous heart after losing his first match by fall. Lewis won five matches to take home third place, recording two major decisions and three falls, one in this medal match against Jacobi Deal of Northwest Kansas Technical College.

 

Northeastern finished eighth as a team in the open.  The next contest for the Plainsmen is the Fort Hays State University Bob Smith Open on 12/7.
