Plainsmen, Plainswomen 1-1 over weekend

The Northeastern Junior College soccer teams enjoyed a successful weekend, with both teams going 1-1 on the road.

The Plainsmen won the first game of the weekend road trip over Dodge City Community College 5-1. The win extended NJC's winning streak to three games, their first three-game winning streak of the season.

Joseph Godoy scored NJC's first two goals of the game. Paul Liagre scored the next two goals to give the Plainsmen a commanding 4-0 lead. Zack Jagerson added a goal for good measure at the 55 minute mark to give NJC a 5-0 lead.

Miguel Palma recorded two assists. Mariano Escobedo and Chase Myrie both finished with one assist. Akim Larmond recorded nine saves.

That winning streak came to an end the following day, snapped by Pratt Community College. PCC blanked NJC 1-0 to hand the Plainsmen their sixth loss of the season.

With one game left in the regular season the Plainsmen are 7-6-3. They'll play their final game Saturday, Oct. 15, at Western Nebraska Community College. NJC defeated WNCC earlier this year 2-1.

Plainswomen find success vs. Pratt

The Plainswomen lost the first game of the weekend road trip to Dodge City Community College 3-1. The loss extended NJC's losing streak to nine games.

Maren Patten scored NJC's lone goal at the 62 minute mark. Simone Marcus recorded the assist on the goal.

NJC snapped their losing streak the following day with a 5-0 victory over Pratt Community College. Marcus got the scoring started with a goal at the 25 minute mark. Jensen Hecht recorded the assist on the goal. Hecht scored the second goal and was assisted by Patten.

Feven Bedard-Khalid got the scoring started in the second half with a goal at the 58 minute mark. Vanessa Tovar recorded the assist on the goal. Kaylee Roth scored the team's fourth goal at the 84 minute mark. Hecht recorded her second assist of the day on the goal. Hecth scored her second goal of the day with a goal at the 86 minute mark. Roth recorded the assist on the goal.

The Plainswomen will wrap up the regular season Saturday against Western Nebraska Community College. NJC lost to WNCC earlier this season 2-0. The Plainswomen are currently 2-11.
