Plainswomen Pounce Cougars

Plainswomen Pounce Cougars

In Region IX conference action, the Plainswomen traveled to Scottsbluff, NE to play the Western Nebraska Cougars.  In their first two Region IX conference games, the ladies were dealt a bad hand and lost both games.  They were needing to get back on the winning side of the scoreboard, and this was the prime time to do so.

With the game starting, they Plainswomen had to play well in order to get the win, and after the first few minutes, the girls could tell this could be their day.  It was Jaycie Dillenburg who would break the ice in the 16 minute to give the Plainswomen the lead.  The game would stay a 1-0 game at half, and the girls knew they couldn't have any mental lapses for the Cougars to take advantage of.

In the second half, the Cougars were playing well, but it was not enough as the Plainswomen were able to play better.  The game would end 2-1 in favor of Northeastern with their second goal coming from an own goal by the Cougars.

This conference win helps the Plainswomen overall and helps them move up in the rankings.

The women will be back in action as they travel to Western Wyoming on Saturday September 16.
