Two Goals in First Leads to Defeat

Two Goals in First Leads to Defeat

Oct. 8, 2018, Sterling, Colo. – In a recent road game, the Plainswomen soccer team traveled to Rock Springs, Wyo. to play against the Western Wyoming Mustangs. The match was not a divisional game, but a win would most definitely lift the team's morale. Additionally, this game could help Northeastern work on some tactics and plays before heading into their game with Western Nebraska.

Right away, the game was equally matched as both teams kept each other from scoring. The Mustangs broke the ice as they scored the first goal in the 22nd minute of the game. They were able to keep their energy high and get one more added in the 30th minute to make it a 2-0 game. From there, the Plainswomen adjusted and played a much better game. The half ended and the game remained a 2-0 game with the Plainswomen trailing.

In the second half, Northeastern played much better, but was still unable to get any goals back. Despite the two early goals against Northeastern, it was an equally matched game between the two teams. The match ended 2-0 and Northeastern fell to another tough opponent.

Northeastern will have two games this week with their first being on Wednesday Oct. 10 against Western Nebraska on the road, and then follow it up against Northwest College at home on Saturday Oct. 13 for Sophomore Day.
