Plainswomen Defeat Trappers on Sophomore Day

Oct. 16, 2018, Sterling, Colo. – It was a beautiful day for a soccer game on the pitch in Sterling. The Plainswomen soccer team hosted the Northwest College Trappers for their final home game of the season. Prior to the game starting, the sophomores were honored for their dedication to the Northeastern Plainswomen soccer program.

The game started, and the Plainswomen began their attack. The ice breaker came in the 15th minute as Macy Gurule scored from the pass of Jaycie Dillenburg to take the 1-0 lead. Northeastern had a few more opportunities to extend their lead, but the Trapper defense was able to get in front of the ball and deter it from getting to the keeper. The horn sounded to end the first half, and the Plainswomen still had the 1-0 lead.

In the second, goals came in numbers for the Plainswomen. Lillian Nordell made it a 2-0 game in the 52nd minute with Tanya Franco getting the assist. In the 59th minute, Jordan Stoner received the pass from Tanya Franco to make it a 3-0 game. Shortly after in the 65th minute, Jaycie Dillenburg made it a 4-0 game. The final goal went to Jaycie Dillenburg in the 68th minute finishing it at a 5-0 game as Macy Gurule was credited with the assist.

That Plainswomen sophomores were excited for their final win on their home field and looked to take that energy into their road game the next day against Northeast Community College.
