Plainswomen Shutout Pratt

Aug. 25, 2019, Sterling, Colo. — In their second game of the weekend triangular, Northeastern Junior College (NJC) hosted the Pratt Community College (PCC) Beavers. On Friday the Plainswomen struggled defensively to keep Hawks out of the zone and lost 6-1. With a day in between to rest, the Plainswomen came out, fixed their mistakes, and attack the Beavers.

Northeastern did a great job of keeping the ball in their offensive zone, which paid off in the 23rd minute as Yadira Ramos scored to make it a 1-0 game. Northeastern kept applying the pressure and gave PCC limited touches on their side of the pitch. Keeping control of the ball paid off in the 33rd minute as NJC scored again from the foot of Jenna Vidal, marking her first collegiate goal. The half finished with Northeastern leading 2-0.

In the second, NJC never slowed and kept pouring on the goals as Ramos tacked on two more, and Emali Ortega added one as well, giving the Plainswomen the 5-0 victory.

Northeastern will be on the road next weekend as they travel to play Garden City Community College and Hesston College on Aug. 30-31.
