Plainswomen split opening weekend

 Northeastern Women's Soccer opened the 2021 fall campaign with a 3-0 victory over Central Community College-Columbus.

The Plainswomen were tied 0-0 going into half, in the 49' freshman Brissa Toribio scored her first college goal with an assist by fellow freshman Bella Pfarr.  Toribio assisted on the second goal in the 57' to freshman Lindsey Harris.  Sophomore Fernanda Rios added the third goal in the 78' assisted by sophomore Leslie Serrato.  Freshman Anne van den Beitel secured the clean sheet with one shot on goal and one save.

In the second match of the Plainswomen's opening weekend campaign they fell to Northeast Community College.  Northeastern had seven shots on goal converting two in the 3-2 loss. Rios scored her second goal of the weekend connecting again with Serrato in the 28'. NCC would counter with the equalizer in the 32' and the teams went to half tied 1-1.  Northeastern sophomore Yadira Ramos converted for the 2-1 lead in the 64'.  NCC would score twice in 3 minutes in the 77' and 80' to nab the 3-2 victory.

 

Northeastern is on the road Wednesday evening with an exhibition match against MSU and open their season at home with a match against Hesston College at 11 am before heading to Rangley, Colo., for a Sunday morning match with CNCC.
