Overtime Goal Pushes Plainswomen Past #10 Laramie County CC

The Plainswomen soccer team got the opportunity to play against #10 nationally ranked Laramie County Community College on their home turf on Wednesday, September 15th.  Coming off of a weekend split against Trinidad and Otero, NJC was looking to capitalize against a hard team to continue their upbeat play this season.  With high stakes on this game, the Plainswomen were looking to give it their best shot at defeating a team in which they never had beat in program history.  The overtime win for NJC moves the ladies to 8-2 on the season, and 3-1 in Region IX play.  This was also the first time in Plainswomen soccer program history to beat a nationally ranked team!  Next game up for NJC will be on Saturday, September 18th at 2pm against Western Nebraska Community College at the Landers Sports Complex in Scottsbluff.

(Game Recap 9/15) Plainswomen vs. Laramie County CC = Won 2-1 in Overtime

1st Goal - At minute 12, Bella Pfarr finds Yadira Ramos who under pressure from multiple defenders manages an angled shot on goal which beats the goalkeeper

LCCC Goal - At minute 15, LCCC's Jenaya Brown equalizes the score at 1 a piece with a hard shot from the 18' box

Overtime Goal - At minute 103, Leslie Serrato finds a gap with a long diagonal pass in which Hailey Pepper controls pass, takes shot from 18' box, hits the underside of crossbar for game winning goal

Breakdown: Both teams had equal spells of possesion and scoring opportunities during the first half.  NJC and LCCC had quality scoring opportunites during the second half with lots of pressuring coming in from both defesnses.  In the end, overtime became too much for LCCC as the Plainswomen were able to capitalize off of LCCC mis-positioning.  Goalkeep Hailey Vaughn ended the game with 5 saves.
