Plainswomen's 10th Win Sets New Program Season Record

The NJC women's soccer team cotinues to set the bar high as the regular season treads on.  On Saturday, October 2nd the Plainswomen took on conference rival Western Nebraska Community College for a second time this season and it ended with the same result, a big win.  Saturday's win gave NJC women's soccer their 10th win of the season, a program best and new record for head coach Ken McAlpine.  The win puts the Plainswomen at a 10-2-1 overall season record and a 4-1-1 record in conference play.  NJC still finds themselves in 3rd place in the division behind Casper College and Laramie County CC.  Next up for the Plainswomen includes a pair of home conference games against Trinidad State College on Friday and Otero Junior College on Saturday.  Saturday concludes regular season home games for NJC and will celebrate sophmore day.

Breakdown: WNCC had a strong scoring opportunity early in the match, but that ended up being their best chance at a goal.  NJC only seen a couple small opportunities in the first half, but none beat the Cougars goal keeper.  Score at halftime was squared away at 0-0.  Second half seen much more energy and competition with the Plainswomen keeping the ball in possession at the Cougar end of the field.  NJC recorded a total of 10 shots to WNCC's 5.  In the end it was the seventh shutout for NJC this season, which is 4th in the nation.  The Plainswomen are averaging 2.77 goals per game.
