The Plainswomen soccer team's home opener was quite the thriller as they took on Hutchinson Community College. Coming off their loss last weekend at Iowa Lakes, the Plainswomen were ready to come out strong. NJC started the game well, going up 2-0 in the first 30 minutes of the game. However, Hutchinson's attack came back with 3 goals leading to an uphill battle for the Plainswomen. With just 12 minutes to go, NJC put one away and tied up the game 3-3 which led to Double Overtime. Unfortunately, the Plainswomen were not able to finish it out and Hutchison put in a goal in the 103rd minute to win the game 3-4. NJC will take on Western Nebraska tomorrow 8/28 at home.

NJC Goal - At minute 8, Leslie Serrato played the ball down the line for Jackie Escalera to run onto. She slid a ball across the box beating multiple defenders and it landed at Lindsey Harris' feet for her to tap in an easy finish.
NJC Goal – At minute 32, Nevaeh Clouse played a through ball to Emory Herbert who cut a defender and shot the ball past the keeper for a 2-0 lead.
Hutchinson Goal – At minute 39, Ella-Mae miller played a ball to Hadlie Lowe who was able to turn the defender and have a 1v1 with the NJC keeper.
Hutchinson Goal – At minute 58, Emma School sent in a corner kick for an open Jayda Wyatt header.
Hutchinson Goal – At minute 62, Jayda Wyatt played a through ball to Emma Scholl who slid a ball in the corner passed the keeper.
NJC Goal – At minute 78, Brissa Toribio ran onto a ball and was able to beat the defender and get a solid shot off to pass the keeper.
Hutchinson Goal – At minute 103, Aimee Maher passed a ball to Adriana Delgado who took a touch inside and curved a shot to the upper left corner of the goal.
Breakdown: NJC out shot the Blue Dragons 19 to 10.
Despite coming out strong with an early lead, the Plainswomen soccer team lost to Western Nebraska on their home turf on Sunday. The Plainswomen will be looking forward to a rematch with the Cougars later this season. Next game up for NJC will be on Friday 9/2 against Northeast Community College at home.

NJC Goal – At minute 12, Nevaeh Clouse played a ball to Brissa Toribio who took her space and drilled a ball past the WNCC keeper.
WNCC Goal – At Minute 14, a WNCC player took a shot from far out and Tania Razo was there to finish the ball after a goalkeeper save.
WNCC Goal – At minute 32, Lesley Vasquez dribbled down the line beating two defenders to find open teammate Tania Razo who finished in the top right corner.
WNCC Goal – At minute 50, Lesley Vasquez finished an easy shot as an NJC clearance deflected off another player
WNCC Goal – At minute 58, Lesley Vasquez played a ball through to teammate Andrea Jimenez who put away WNCC's fourth goal of the day.
NJC Goal – At minute 72, Yanitza Garay pressured the Cougars defense and was able to get a piece of it where Nevaeh Clouse was there to run onto and chip the ball over the keeper.
Breakdown: NJC was outshot by the Cougars 19 to 9, the first time they have been outshot this season. Goalkeeper Brenna Singer recorded 9 saves.
