Northeastern Volleyball Receives First Commitment

Before the new year started, Northeastern Volleyball received their first commitment from Lauren White. Lauren will be graduating from Weld Central High School May 2017. Lauren's parents, Josh and Dianna White, are alumni of Northeastern Junior College.

Academically, Lauren has excelled the last four years of high school. She lettered academically with a 3.7 GPA or higher since she was a freshman. Athletically, Lauren earned a letter all four years of high school. Her freshman year she was All-League Honorable Mention, sophomore year she was All-League Second Team, junior year she was All-League Second Team, and senior year All-League First Team. Lauren is not all work with no play; she enjoys showing pigs through 4-H, movie watching, and spending time with family.

"I felt like from the start, that NJC was home away from home, where I can study for my future while also playing the sport I love," commented Lauren. While at Northeastern, Lauren plans to have a dual major. Her interests are Ag Business and Journalism. She will have her hands full with both volleyball commitments and academic commitments.

"Through numerous phone calls, texts, and emails we learned a lot about Lauren as a person. We felt that Lauren not only would bring a skill set in what we want in the setting department but that she's going to bring a sense of competitiveness that we want on the team," Head Coach Jessica Squier said.

The volleyball team looks forward to welcoming Lauren to the Northeastern Junior College athletic family.
