Second Commitment for Northeastern Volleyball

By Jessica Squier

On January 10th Coach Squier received a call from Kacey Jaeger of Ogallala High School committing to Northeastern Volleyball. “On my first visit to NJC I fell in love with the home feeling I got. I loved the gym environment and Sterling is close to home and I have family all around me,” said Kacey.

Kacey is the second to commit to Northeastern for the 2017 season. She is currently playing for Five Star in Denver and continues to learn about the game of volleyball. “We are extremely pleased that Kacey chose Northeastern. We feel that she is a great asset and is a great team player,” Head Coach Jessica Squier said. “We feel her experience and maturity will help continue the success of Northeastern Volleyball.”

Kacey is currently a senior at Ogallala High School graduating this May. She is undecided when it comes to major but she has been shadowing in areas of the medical field.

Academically, Kacey is participating in FBLA, Spanish Honor Society, National Honor Society and being honored with being awarded Academic Honor Roll and Student of the quarter 2014-15. Kacey was also involved in Fall Plays, One Acts, food and clothing drives, and trash pick-ups. In addition, she is a member of the United Methodist Church and volunteers as a Vacation Bible School instructor during her summers.

Hobby wise Kacey enjoys snowboarding, riding four wheelers, helping her dad during harvest, helping young individuals learning the game of volleyball, and playing tennis.

Kacey has such a plethora of awards that we may run out of ink reporting them. She was awarded Southwest Conference Honorable Mention, Keith County All Area 2nd Team, and Nebraska Prep VB Honorable Mention her sophomore year. Her junior year she was awarded South West Conference 1st Team, Keith County All Area Player of the Year, Keith County All Area 1st Team, Lincoln Journal Star Class C-1 All State Honorable Mention, Nebraska Prep VB Class C-1 All State 2nd Team, Omaha World Herald Class C-1 All State Honorable Mention, Associated Press All State VB Class C-1 Honorable Mention, North Platte Telegraph All Area 2nd Team, and KOGA Player of the Year.
