Plainswomen Defeat Lancers in Crusades

In recent volleyball action, the Northeastern Plainswomen traveled to Torrington, WY to play the Lancers of Eastern Wyoming College.  This was the team's first game in a week, so they were definitely ready to see some competition again.

The first set showed that a two-hour bus trip prior to a game had some setbacks as they had a slower start.  At one point, the Plainswomen were up by six points, but a short rally by the Lancers allowed them to be within one point.  Once the Plainswomen calmed down, Emily McCurley was able to get a big kill and help NJC go on a run.  They would eventually go on to win that set 25-21.

In the second set, once again being plagued by a slow start, the Lancers would take an early six-point lead.  But never being ones to give up, the ladies buckled down and went to work.  At one point in the set, Sofija Pajevic had a monster block that would keep the Plainswomen energy level high.  Despite being behind early, NJC would come back and crush EWC 25-18.

In the third set, the game was a close one until everything fell into place for the women, and started to get kills, blocks, and aces to extend the lead.  Sara Antic was the one to lead the charge with her serving that would help lead to the 25-20 win.

The next game for the Plainswomen will be on Thursday September 14 at *HOME* as they host the Sheridan College Generals at 7pm.  Bring your token to the game to redeem your free popcorn!
