Plainswomen Win Home Opener

Plainswomen Win Home Opener

On Thursday September 14, the Plainswomen played their season opener against Sheridan College.  The women had a long week's rest from the last time they played.  Having a longer break had prepared them for this game, and it was apparent that they wanted to play.

The first set, the ladies came out in attack mode wanting the game to be over in three sets. In the beginning, the game was back and forth until Sara Antic was able to get a pair of aces.  Those points would set the tone for the rest of the match, which would eventually lead to the 25-12 win.

With the second match to begin, one could tell that the General had adjusted their game-plan and that this second match would be different.  One thing that the Generals did not take into account, was that although the plan was altered, the Plainswomen too had altered some things.  The second set would yet again be another battle until Noel Phillips had a booming kill to get the momentum on their once again.  From there it was all NJC as they would go on to win 25-20.

The Plainswomen headed to the locker room with their heads held high and wanted to play yhe third set immediately, but had to deal with a brief intermission.  After the intermission, it would prove to be the same outcome.  With Noel Phillips leading the charge alongside the defense of Baily Schumacher, the Plainswomen would get the easy 25-18 victory.

The ladies will have two more days of action in the Bank of Colorado Event Center for the Pizza Hut Tournament.
