Plainswomen Defend Home Court Versus Trojans And Rattlers

In a recent two game home stand against Region IX conference opponents, the Plainswomen played the Trinidad State Trojans and the Otero Rattlers.  Being that these were games that help seed teams for post season, the girls needed to protect their home court.

In the first game versus Trinidad, the Plainswomen were able to take care of business and defeat the Trojans in three sets; 28-19, 25-17, 25-16.  The ladies were led by Sara Antic in the kill department as she had 19 off 45 attempts.  All those kills and more came from the assist of Sofija Pajevic as she accumulated 40 assists.

In the second game against the Otero Rattlers, the Plainswomen knew that they would have to play well as this would be their third game in three days.  Protecting the home court during conference play is a must, so they knew they had to dig deep and play them well.  The girls knew they would have their hands full, but they were expecting what happened next.

The first set was a barnburner as the game went past the 25 point mark.  The game went back and forth, until finally the Plainswomen got the upper hand and won 32-30.  The next two sets Northeastern still had to battle, but still won towards the end 25-20 and 25-20.

Kacey Jaeger lead the team in blocks with having two solo and five assisted blocks.  Additionally, Bailey Schumacher lead the team in digs with an impressive 28 with Emily McCurley having a solid 17 digs of her own.

The ladies are back in action as they travel to McCook for yet another Region IX conference game on Tuesday October 10.
