Volleyball Falls to No. 19 Western Nebraska

Oct. 18, 2018, Sterling, Colo. – Playing at Western Nebraska Community College is always a tough environment to compete in. Year in and year out the Cougars are always ranked as one of the top teams in the nation. The latest polls ranked the Cougars as No. 19 in the nation, just one spot above the Plainswomen who are ranked No. 20. The Plainswomen knew it was going to be a tough match with some of their starters injured, but the match was played.

In the first set, the Plainswomen came out with a fury and were able to defeat the Cougars down the stretch with a score of 26-24. In the rest of the sets however, the Cougars were able to get the best of Northeastern, winning the next three sets 25-12, 25-18 and 25-14. The Plainswomen had troubles executing, and Western Nebraska took advantage of that.

The Plainswomen look to get the rest of their team healthy and injury-free for their last two regular season games. Their next game is on the road as they play the McCook Indians on Oct. 23, followed up with hosting Eastern Wyoming for their sophomore day on Wednesday, Oct. 24.
