Plainswomen One Win Away From National Tournament

Scottsbluff, Neb...

Northeastern faced Northwest College in the second round semi-finals of the 21-22 Region IX tournament last night.  On Friday, the Plainswomen face Central Wyoming College (#1 seed from north division) in the championship round of the Region IX tournament at 4pm.  A win secures a spot at the national tournament, a loss will require an additional win on Saturday to advance to nationals.

(Game Recap 11/4) Plainswomen vs. Northwest College = Won 3-0

Set #1 - NJC-25 NWC-23 (Won)

Set #2 - NJC-25 NWC-15 (Won)

Set #3 - NJC-25 NWC-24 (Won)

Breakdown: NJC played a close first set with Northwest in the match.  Serving and hitting errors were the main issue of letting the Trappers hang tight in the first set.  Once NJC got rolling, solid defense and timely kills allowed them to run away with the second and third sets.  The front line was blocking about every kill that Northwest attempted, which allowed the back line to get comfortable and be able to handle anything that made it past.  Northeastern's serving accuracy will have to improve dramatically against a much stronger Central Wyoming on Friday.
