Plainswomen Make 5th Consecutive National Tournament Appearance

The Northeastern Plainswomen ended the Region IX Tournament with a stellar performance against Central Wyoming College.  Northeastern was able to keep their season alive and qualify for the National Tournament in West Plains, Missouri.  NJC will head to West Plains on Monday, November 14th.  Game times are still to be determined.

Breakdown: The Northeastern Plainswomen had a spectacular weekend, qualifying for the National Tournament for the 5th consecutive year. After losing to CWC in the Semi Finals of the District A bracket, the NJC volleyball team saw them again in the cancelation bracket from the second bid for grabs. Northeastern came out with lots of energy, but it was not enough to take the first set. However, the Plainswomen flipped the switch in sets 2-4 and ran away with the win, keeping CWC to 13 points in set 4. The Plainswomen were led offensively with a outstanding performance by Gabby Oos with 15 kills on her own. Defensively, NJC was led by Grace Yoder with 23 digs. The Northeastern block was too much for CWC as the Plainswomen accumulated 19 blocks. Allie Schumacher led with 27 assists. This match, sophomore Taylor Wiescamp was able to break the top 10 in NJC volleyball history for the most blocks in her time at NJC. The Plainswomen had many players earn places on the all-regional teams. Freshman Annika Helf and Gabby Oos made all Region first team. Grace Yoder and Taylor Wiescamp made all Region 2nd team. Annika Helf, Allie Schumacher and Kaytlin Smart made the All- Tournament team. Grace Yoder was named Libero of the Year.
